Mainly aimed at the level of lipid oxidation

Significance:

Oxygen free radicals act on unsaturated fatty acids of lipids to generate lipid peroxidation. The latter gradually breaks down into a series of complex compounds, including MDA. Lipid oxidation levels can be measured by detecting MDA levels. 

Determination principle:

MDA was combined with thiobarbituric acid (TBA) to produce red product, which had the maximum absorption peak at 532nm. After colorimetry, the content of lipid peroxide in S product could be estimated. At the same time, the absorbance at 600nm was measured, and the content of MDA was calculated by the difference between the absorbance at 532nm and 600nm. 

Equipment needed, consumables:

Visible spectrophotometer/microplate, water bath, table centrifuge, adjustable pipette, microglass cuvette / 96-well plate, mortar, ice and distilled water.
