Magnesium is a cofactor of many enzymes, which is present in soft tissue and bone, and the distribution of magnesium and bone is roughly equal. The metabolic mechanism of magnesium is still unclear. Increased magnesium can lead to decreased muscle tone.            

The kit uses magnesium ions in solution to combine with methyl thymol blue (MTB) under alkaline conditions to form a blue-purple complex. Calcium chelator is added to remove the background interference of calcium ions. The absorbance at 600nm is detected by spectrophotometer, and the magnesium content is calculated according to the formula.
